MENTAL HEALTH SKILL BUILDING

Mental Health Skill Building is the new name for Mental Health Support Services (MHSS). MHSB is a training service for individuals with significant mental illness. IFS’ service is designed to train individuals in functional skills and appropriate behavior related to the individual’s health and safety, activities of daily living, and use of community resources and monitoring heath, nutrition, and physical condition.

ADMISSION CRITERIA

Services are available to Adults who are 18 plus years, that have experienced ALL of the following:


  • One of the Primary Axis I DSM diagnosis of Schizophrenia, Major Depressive Disorder (Recurrent; Bipolar I or Bipolar II) OR PTSD and anxiety disorders documented by a physician within the past year.
  • Individualized training such as basic living skill such as symptom management, medication management, social skills, personal hygiene, food preparation or money management skills
  • Prior history of any of the following: psychiatric hospitalization, residential crisis stabilization; Intensive Community Treatment (ICT) , program of Assertive Community Treatment (PACT); placement in a psychiatric residential treatment facility (RCT Level C); or Temporary detention Order (TDO)
  • Prescription for anti-psychotic mood stabilizing, or anti-depressant medications within the 12 months prior to the assessment date.
